The Ekiti State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving electricity supply, expanding energy access, and strengthening the State’s power sector through the registration and licensing of 41 energy service providers by the Ekiti State Electricity Regulatory Bureau (EKSERB).
The Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, said the development forms part of the State government’s strategic efforts to improve power supply, attract credible private sector investment, and strengthen electricity infrastructure across Ekiti State.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, Prof. Aluko explained that the licensed operators cut across key segments of the electricity value chain, including metering, power generation, electricity distribution, mini-grid operations, and Independent Electricity Distribution Networks (IEDNs).
According to him, the Bureau licensed 18 Meter Asset Providers (MAPs), four Electricity Distribution Companies, six Generation Companies, 10 Mini-Grid Operators, and two Independent Electricity Distribution Network (IEDN) operators as part of deliberate efforts to improve service delivery and expand electricity access, particularly in underserved and rural communities.
The licensed Meter Asset Providers include Protogy Global Services Ltd, Mojec International Ltd, Wellsun Intelligent Technology Ltd, MOMAS Electricity Manufacturing Company Ltd, Arotob Global Services, Sai Integrated Projects Ltd, Blue Orange Multi Investment Ltd, Bofalaj Dynamic Electric Nigeria Ltd, Charismax Global Resource Ltd, Direct Credit E Solution Nig. Under the power generation category, EKSERB licensed Ekiti Independent Power Plant, A4&T Power Solution Ltd, Enatura Nigeria Ltd, ABB Valiant Company Nig. Ltd, and Corporate Fix Quick Services Ltd.
Similarly, the Bureau approved mini-grid operators including Tripple E System Ass. Ltd, Green Power Overseas Ltd, Protergia Nigeria Ltd, Rivet Engineering Ltd, T.M Energy Ltd, Julesatub Inter Global, Hotspot Networks Ltd, NXT Grid Nigeria Ltd, Stonewell Tech Nig Ltd, and Covenant Plus Engineering Ltd to support electricity expansion initiatives, especially in rural and underserved areas.
The Bureau also licensed Anyingba Independent Electricity Distribution Coy Ltd and Powergrid Advisory Services Ltd under the Independent Electricity Distribution Network (IEDN) category.
Prof. Aluko noted that the State Government remains committed to reforms aimed at enhancing power stability, widening electricity access, and encouraging investment in off-grid, embedded, and alternative energy solutions.
He stressed that the long-term objective of the administration is to ensure reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity supply for residents, businesses, and industries across Ekiti State.
The Commissioner further explained that the initiative aligns with the vision of the Ekiti State Government and the provisions of the Electricity Act 2023, which empower states to regulate and develop their intrastate electricity markets.
He added that the State commenced a gradual transition from sole dependence on federal electricity distribution companies by opening the sector to licensed independent operators following the formal transfer of oversight of Ekiti State’s intrastate electricity market from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to EKSERB.
According to him, the licensing exercise reflects the government’s determination to create a transparent, competitive, and investor-friendly electricity market while ensuring strict regulatory compliance, consumer protection, and improved service standards.
Prof. Aluko assured residents that the government, through EKSERB, would continue to provide an enabling environment for investors and stakeholders, noting that stable electricity supply remains critical to economic growth, industrialisation, job creation, and improved living standards in the state.
He also urged all licensed operators to strictly adhere to operational guidelines, safety regulations, and service delivery obligations as stipulated by the Bureau.
