The Ekiti State Government has called for calm following an allegation by Mr. Afolayan Adebayo regarding the removal of his kidneys during a medical procedure at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti.
Speaking on the development, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, confirmed that the government is fully aware of the claim and takes the matter with utmost seriousness.
Dr. Filani disclosed that he has directed the Teaching Hospital Board to immediately constitute an independent investigative committee to thoroughly examine all aspects of the allegation. The committee has been given ten days to conduct a comprehensive review and submit its findings.
“We understand the concern this report has generated among the public, and we appeal for calm while the investigation progresses,” he stated.
“The Government of Ekiti State remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the safety of everyone who seeks medical care in our facilities.”
He further reassured residents that public hospitals across the state operate under strict ethical and professional standards, and the government will not hesitate to take appropriate action if any breach is confirmed.
The Government urges the public and media to avoid speculation and allow the committee to complete its work without interference. The findings will be made public upon conclusion.
