…as Gov. Commissions RRS Building, other projects
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has assured Ekiti people that his government will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that every citizen feel safe and secure in all parts of the State, stressing that protection of lives and property remains a top priority of his administration.
Governor Oyebanji gave the assurance in Ado-Ekiti on Friday during the inauguration of the newly constructed Armoury and Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Building as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.
Speaking while commissioning the projects, the Governor, who was represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, said the projects were conceived to strengthened the capacity of security agencies and further consolidate the peace and safety that the state is known for.
Explaining that his government recognizes the importance of security as the foundation for growth and development, Governor Oyebanji said his administration would continue to invest in critical security infrastructure, logistics and personnel welfare to ensure that the State remains the safest in the country.
“To the residents of Ekiti State, your security and wellbeing are at the center of every decision we make. We remain committed to listening, learning, and delivering with integrity, urgency, and humility and these projects reflect our government’s pledge to deliver tangible infrastructure that directly improves the safety and quality of life of equity people.”
Reflecting on his administration in the last three years, Governor Oyebanji said his government has consistently pursued reforms aimed at strengthening governance, expanding opportunities and protecting the people.
While commending the dedication and professionalism of the security operatives in the State for their commitment to maintaining law and order, the Governor said his administration would continue to provide the needed support to enhance their operational capacity and improve their working conditions.
The Governor charged residents to remain law-abiding and support the efforts of security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities within their communities, maintaining that the commissioning of the new projects were clear demonstration of his government to continue Ekiti one of the safest state in Nigeria, where citizens and investor can live and thrive without fear.
“The commissioning of these facility aligns with our administration’s safety and security architecture, which emphasizes prevention, preparedness, and the protection of vulnerable communities and people and by investing in the RRS, we are investing in the ability of our security and professionalism hallmarks of a modern responsive state.
“The Rapid Response Squad is a critical pillar of Ekiti State security strategy, capable of rapid deployment to incident savings, enforcement of law and order, and detainment of criminal activities. The new office symbolizes institutional growth, accountability, and improved operational effectiveness through better work space, training facilities, communications, and local support”. The Governor asserted.
In his welcome address, the state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo highlighted the importance of armoury as one of the most sensitive and important units in defense where weapons ranging from the hardcore to light weapons including other accessories are safely kept adding that the new state armoury can compete favourable with the best nationwide.
The Police Commissioner affirmed that the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) is the engine room of the command as they help us to fight hardcore crime as he expressed appreciation to the Governor for recognizing them by upgrading their offices for them adding that the gesture will further encourage them to work harder.
“On behalf of the officers and personnel of the command i want to sincerely and heartily appreciate his excellency for this and more that he has done for the Ekiti state command, this gesture indeed shows the love you have for the Nigerian police force and your commitment to the security of lives and property of the good people of Ekiti state.
“I want to use this medium to seek the continual support of all residents and citizens of the state in the fight against crime and criminality, our hands must be on deck to ensure that criminals are eliminated from the state. We must say something when we see something strange and suspicious we must all embrace inclusive policing strategy as initiated by the general police.” The police Commissioner stated.
Also at the event were, the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, Head of Service, Dr (Mrs) Folakemi Olomojobi, Chief of Staff, Mr Niyi Adebayo, members of the State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, among others.
