EKSG Begins Final Stage Of Teachers’ Recruitment Exercise With Applications Undergoing Oral Interviews, Micro-Teaching Sessions

Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (TSC) has commenced oral interviews and micro teaching exercises for applicants seeking employment in public secondary schools in the state.

 

Addressing the candidates who qualified for the oral interview/ micro teaching stage of the exercise at the All Souls Secondary venue of the exercise in Ado-Ekiti, the Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Rhoda Ojo charged the applicants to conduct themselves in an orderly manner and abide by the stipulated rules of the exercise

 

Mrs Ojo assured them that all the 1,831 shortlisted candidates who qualified from the second stage of exercise held last month would be attended to, warning those who were not supposed to be present at the venue to vacate the premises of face arrest by security agencies

 

The TSC boss who noted that modern teaching demands ICT compliance, stressed that incoming staff must be well-versed in digital methods to meet the needs of today’s tech-savvy students.

 

She described the recruitment as credible and transparent, and commended Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his support, expressing confidence that those that will be recruited from the process would be capable and would meet the expectation both the State Government and Stakehoders in the sector.

 

Also speaking on the exercise,the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, explained that the micro-teaching session is designed to test candidates’ skills in classroom management, attentiveness, and use of teaching materials.

 

He stated that panelists played the role of students, while candidates acted as teachers to determine how well versed the teachers are in teaching and class control amongst others.

 

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, who monitored the exercise described it as a “unique and novel approach” to selecting the best candidates for the State Teaching Service.

 

He commended all the educational managers, the Chairman of TESCOM and everyone that took part in the process for their dedication and sacrifice for the State by bringing their wealth of experience and expertise to bear in the selection process.

 

He applauded the adoption of innovative teaching methods and in the process and lauded Governor Oyebanji for prioritizing education as a tool for state and national development stressing that this was the third major recruitment exercise embarked upon by the present administration in the education sector since it came into office in 2022

 

In his comments, the Chairman of Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Hon. Adeyemi Awoniyi who also monitored the exercise said he was impressed with the process and the methodologies employed as both the applicants and the officials were well seated and the environment was made conducive for all participants.

 

While appreciating the Governor of the State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for giving the Teaching Service Commission free hands to conduct the exercise for the selection of capable hands in the teaching service, Hon. Awoniyi opined that orderliness of the entire process and the performance of the candidates portend great hope for the State’s educational sector in the future.

 

He commended the leadership of the commission for organizing quality exercise with reputable and seasoned educationists as consultants for the the interview and micro teaching exercises.

 

The Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mr Michael Boluwade who promised that successful candidates would receive their employment letters by the start of the new academic session, said that all complaints by applicants would be addressed after the interview to ensure no one is short changed.

 

His counterpart in the Ministry of Education, Mr Michael Omolayo in his remarks, said that the exercise was orderly, prompt with better sitting arrangements for applicants and the officials.

 

Also commenting on the exercise, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, Mr Sola Akinluyi described the interview as exciting and a demonstration of genuine steps of government to hire best hands that would groom the upcoming generation.

 

Mr Akinluyi who led the interview panel on Economics added that the exercise has showed that the state has a reservoir of human resources to choose from, adding that the future is bright for the state.

 

Also speaking, the President of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools in Ekiti State, Mr Akinbode Oke expressed delight with the exercise, saying that most of the schools without adequate teaching and non teaching staff could now heave a sigh of relief as more hands would now be injected into the system.

 

He appreciated the State government for heeding the yearnings of principals and Stakeholders for more teachers in public secondary schools.

 

Some of the applicants who were interviewed expressed their satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise

 

An applicant, Mrs Adebola Ilesanmi commended the commission for putting up a well arranged venue, where participants and supervisors alike were comfortably seated and attended to without stress.

 

Another candidate, Mr Odunayo Alfred said the exercise has justified his perchant for continuous study, saying that his experience at the venue has taught him not rest on his oars.

 

In his comments, another applicant Mr Adetunji Olarewaju who participated in the exercise commended the officials who supervised the exercise for being friendly, humane and humble while relating with the applicants.

 

Officials of the State government from education – related ministries and parastatals were on ground to monitor the exercise.
