Dissolution Of The State Executive Council: A Strategic Move Towards Enhanced Governance And Efficiency – Olatunbosun

Ekiti State Government has described the recent dissolution of cabinet by Governor Biodun Oyebanji as part of a broader effort to streamline government and improve efficiency.

 

Former Commissioner for Information newly recalled as Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun who made the clarification while featuring on an audience participatory radio programme in Ado Ekiti, said the dissolution was well-considered decision to reposition the Government for greater efficiency, renewed focus and enhanced service delivery to the good people of the State.

 

Olatunbosun stressed that “the dissolution is not a reflection of poor performance, but rather a strategic step in our ongoing efforts to streamline government operations, infuse new energy into the administration, and align with the evolving development priorities of the state. As we approach the next critical phase of our mandate, it has become necessary to review and recalibrate the structure of the Executive Council to better serve the interests of our citizens.”

 

According to him, “the State is at a defining moment in its developmental journey, with key initiatives in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agribusiness and economic empowerment taking centre stage. To this end, the government is committed to assembling a team of competent, innovative, and responsive individuals who will drive our renewed vision with purpose and dedication.”

 

Olatunbosun lauded what he called the valuable contributions and unwavering service of members of the dissolved Executive Council to the State, noting that their commitment and hard work have helped lay a strong foundation upon which the next phase of governance would be build.

 

Assuring that the process of reconstitution of a new cabinet would be conducted with transparency, and reflect the highest standards of merit, inclusivity, and public trust, he reiterated the commitment of the present administration to delivering the dividends of democracy and moving Ekiti State forward on the path of sustainable development and good governance.

 

Olatunbosun also explained that his recall as Special Adviser to the Governor on Information did not contravene any law, stressing that “Chapter 6, Part 2, Section 196 of the Nigerian constitution allows the Governor to appoint any person as a Special Adviser to assist him in the performance of his functions and any appointment made pursuant to the provision of this section shall be at the pleasure of the Governor, and shall cease when the Governor ceases to hold office”.

 

Further elucidating, Olatunbosun said his quick recall was in line with and a reflection of the Oyebanji administration’s commitment to ensuring that information on Government’s policies, programmes and activities are promptly and accurately disseminated to make them accessible, secure, and efficiently used to support decision-making and public service delivery.

 

He said the goal is to boost inclusivity, transparency, accountability, citizen empowerment, social cohesion, improved service delivery, enhanced public safety, economic development and good governance in general
