Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Mrs Funmi Olayinka has canvassed cooperation and collaboration between the people of Hackney, London and Ekiti saying they have a lot in common which points to a greater future for the two communities in spite of the long distance that separates them.
Hackney town referred to as the London borough of Hackney is a London borough of North/North East London which forms part of Inner London. Hackney is one of the Host borough for the 2012 Summer Olympis in London.
Olayinka who spoke on Friday as guest at the Communities Celebration Evening hosted by Councillor Susan Fajana Thomas, in the Assembly Halls, Stoke Newington Town Hall, Stoke Newington Church Street, Hackney, N16 0JR, observed that coming together in the area of trade and tourism would help boost the culture of the people whom she said are both enlightened.
Observing that Speaker of the council of Hackney, Susan Fajana-Thomas was noted for running inclusive government, she said the Dr. Kayode Fayemi led administration in Ekiti State of Nigeria is re-writing the history of governance by involving everybody in governance, a situation that has laid the foundation for unrivalled political awareness.
According to her, “as Councillor Fajana-Thomas matches on strengthening community cohesion by building trust and culture of
inclusiveness and participation, the Government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi in Ekiti State has engendered participatory governance where the people determine the programme of government and run it the way it suits them best.
“I make bold to invite those planning to holiday to visit Nigeria and particularly, Ekiti where nature has endowed us with a lot of very
interesting places of deepened tourism. I assure you it is going to be an experience that you would not be in a hurry to forget.”
She added that, “the Ekitis who are highly industrious and pointal in their pursuit of education, have a long history of highly rich culture and distinguished traditional way of: dressing, dancing, festival, religion among other ways of life.
