Local Government Officials Charged to Create Change

Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Funmi Olayinka has reiterated the commitment of the Dr. Kayode Fayemi led administration to engendering probity and accountability in public service including the local government service in the state.

Speaking in Iloko Ijesa on Tuesday at a retreat organized for key functionaries of the State Local Government Service Commission, she explained that the changes being witnessed in terms of appointments and promotions in the State since the inception of the present administration are aimed at laying solid foundation for the development of the people.

While adding that the administration is relentless in its bid to make a complete change of the system as the government cannot fold its arms and allow things to go ahead with “business as usual” method, Olayinka urged them to study the report submitted by the Civil Service Transformation Committee (CSTC) inaugurated to address six key result areas and strategies for effective and efficient implementation of the 8-point agenda of government.

In remark of welcome at the occasion, the Chairman of Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Chief. Aderemi Ajayi said the workshop was to alert key political officials and career officers at the local government to the need to acquaint themselves with the features and core issues of the 8-point Agenda of the present administration, considering the fact that local governments in the State have prominent roles to play in the actualization of the developmental Agenda.

He charged participants to use the opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge that would enable them function effectively and efficiently as local government officials.
