HOS Makes Case For Regular Training Of Civil Servants

The need for training and retraining in the Civil Service has again been stressed.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of a 2two– day workshop organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Social Development and Gender Empowerment for officers on GL 07-10, The Head of service, Mr. Bunmi Famosaya said Civil Servants needed regular capacity building for efficient service delivery.

Mr. Famosaya who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, General Administration Department, Mr. Alfred Ologuntoye noted that Civil Servants in the middle level cadre must be ready to work in line with the goals and objectives of government and provide  leadership support to the people on the lower cadre.

He assured the people that the assessment and promotion examination was not meant to retrench civil servants but was aimed at preparing the workforce for the emerging challenges in governance and to enable them compete favourably with their counterparts in other states of the
Federation.

In her welcome address, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Social Development and Gender Empowerment, Mrs Fola Richie-Adewusi said the training would enable participants to be well-equipped for better performance.
Mrs Richie – Adewusi also noted that the training workshop would expose the participants to rules and regulations in the public service, general information about Ekiti State, and the role of public officers in the   implementation of the 8-point Agenda of the State Government.
She therefore urged the participants to make the best use of the training workshop as it would enable them to learn new ideas, skills and methods.
