Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has sent a condolence message to the government and people of Ethiopia on the death of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi. Fayemi in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, said Zenawi will be remembered for bringing stability and development to his country.

He also described Zenawi as a “peacemaker who worked assiduously to ensure peace in the hitherto troubled Horn of Africa region.” The Governor said the death of Zenawi was more painful for the African continent which recently lost Presidents Bingu wa Mutharika of Malawi and John Atta Mills of Ghana. Describing Zenawi as the “architect of modern Ethiopia”, Fayemi, participated in the high level forum on Peace and Security convened by Meles in Ethiopian in April, credited the late premier for turning his country to an investment haven.

While pointing out that Ethiopia used to be synonymous with famine and hunger before Zenawi’s ascension to power, Fayemi hailed the late prime minister for turning around the fortunes of his country. The governor urged the people of Ethiopia to be consoled by the legacy of good leadership left behind by Zenawi.
