Fayemi Inaugurates 2nd Ekiti Youth Parliament

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has urged Youths to be actively involved in the formation of policies that would impact positively on their future.

Speaking while inaugurating the second session of the Ekiti State Youth Parliament in Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Fayemi said it was time for the youths to make impact in the development of the state.

He used the process of building a house as an analogy to describe the important role of youths in the society, stressing that they should be encouraged to contribute to the development of their society.
Fayemi promised that his government would always support the Youth Parliament towards making it a virile tool for youth empowerment in the state.
The Governor congratulated the new members of the Youth Parliament and charged them to contribute to the ongoing developmental process in Ekiti State.

In his goodwill message, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin called on youths to make themselves more relevant in the socio-political and economic development of Ekiti State.

Dr. Omirin who was represented by his Deputy, Hon. Adetunji Orisalade called for empowerment of youths with the intention of making them contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.

In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Kayode Olaosebikan described the Youth Parliament as an opportunity for youths to learn, exchange ideas and share experience in decision making processes.

He said the Parliament had become an effective positive voice of young people in our society, noting that it affords members to learn
skills and work together as a team. Mr. Temidayo Peter Akeredolu was elected as Speaker of the second session to take over from the outgoing Speaker, Mr. Damola Ogunmola.
