December 10, 2012

Ekiti State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Chief Dayo Fadipe has urged Universities in Nigeria to make entrepreneurship training an integral part of the degree programmes in the ivory towers in the country.
Chief Fadipe made the plea at the 10th Alumni Lecture of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association, Ekiti State Branch in Ado-Ekiti. In a lecture entitled “Selected Issues in Products of Our Universities”, Mr Fadipe said the introduction of entrepreneurship curriculum in Nigerian Universities would produce graduates who would be employers of labour as against producing endless job-seekers. He however commended the effort of the Ekiti State Government for introducing the micro-entrepreneurial development programme to selected secondary schools in the state.

Mr Fadipe stressed that Information Communication Technology (ICT) unit in all the tertiary institutions should be well staffed and equipped adequately to provide sound and practical teaching for the students.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the Alumni Association in Ekiti State, Mrs. Funmilayo Ajayi noted that University of Ibadan has produced high calibre manpower who has contributed immensely towards the socio-economic development of Ekiti State.

In his remarks, the National President of the Association, Dr. Nathaniel  Michael Ejikeme urged members to be more morally and financially committed to the activities of the Association.
The traditional ruler of Efon Alaaye, Oba Emmanuel who is an alumnus of the University, urged members of the Association to co-operate with the Ekiti State Government to improve standard of education in the state.
