EKSG Disburses Another N42 Million To 60 Communities For Self-Help Projects

Ekiti State Government has disbursed over N42 million to 60 communities in the state as the last tranche of the first phase of the government assisted self-help projects.

Distributing the cheques in Ado Ekiti to the Community Development Associations of benefiting areas, the State Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Empowerment, Chief Folorunso Olabode disclosed that the second phase of the project will be launched on 17th October, 2013 at Ikere Ekiti with the disbursement of a sum of N300 million to another set of communities.

Chief Olabode who described the first phase of the scheme as a huge success, commended all stakeholders for their efforts at ensuring delivery of good quality jobs.

The Commissioner particularly lauded the contributions of traditional rulers of the benefiting communities, the Development Associations and vendors that supplied materials being used for the projects for their commitment to the success of the scheme.

He assured that the state government would not relent efforts at making life more meaningful for rural dwellers, stressing that government would continue to execute projects that touch the life of the people as well as support initiatives that will develop the communities.

Assuring that every community in the state would benefit from the government assisted self help project, Olabode however appealed to the communities that are yet to benefit from the scheme to exercise
patience and be confident that their turn would soon come.

Responding, people from the benefiting communities expressed gratitude to the state government for the initiative.

Captain Kolawole Adu from Ikere Ekiti, Mr. Alaralegbe Ogunmola from Iloro Ekiti and Mr. Ayo Ajayi from Ora Ekiti all commended the Fayemi led administration for its efforts at developing the state and pledged to continually support the efforts of the administration to move the state forward.
