EKSG Challenges Religious Leaders To End Insurgence

Chairman, South West Zone of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Magnus Atilade, deputy governor of Ekiti State, Mrs Funmi Olayinka with Vice Chairman of the body, Rev Fr. Femi Osegboun, and Director of Research and Planning of South West zone of CAN, Rev. Canon Nelson Fadoju during a courtesy call of Zonal CAN executive members to the office of the deputy governor in Ado-Ekiti during the week.

Ekiti State government has challenged religious leaders in the country to device means of halting whatever form of intolerance among people of the country.
Speaking in her office when executive members of the South West zone of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) paid her a call, the deputy governor, Mrs. Funmi Olayinka said the government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi was prepared to deploy whatever support to religious bodies to ensure the sustenance of the present religious harmony and peaceful co-existence for which the state is known.
Observing that Ekiti is one of the most peaceful states in the country, she noted that the prayers and support of CAN and other religious bodies to peaceful and successful governance cannot be over-emphasized, hence the need for the government also to reciprocate by giving support to such bodies.
Olayinka described Governor Kayode Fayemi as a visionary leader whose mission is to emancipate Ekiti from all forms of poverty and entrench a sustainable social and infrastructural development that will clearly showcase the state on the world map.
She explained the need for collaboration between religious leaders and government explaining that each has clear cut responsibility to better the lot of the people.
Earlier, the Zonal Chairman, Archbishop Magnus Atilade, who led the delegation congratulated Governor Kayode Fayemi and his Deputy for the successful at reclaiming their mandate and for the success the administration has recorded in the last two years of leading in the state.
He explained that the team was in Ekiti for its quarterly meeting and were very impressed at the various developments they witnessed in Ado, the state capital and other suburbs they have been opportuned to visit in the last few days.
He added lauded the state for the peace and religious harmony, saying CAN sees the state as a role model and is proud to associate with the state and the government.
The CAN Chairman solicited for a bus for the state chapter of the association as a recognition of the body and government’s contribution towards the development of CAN and proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ in Ekiti State.
