Ekiti State To Remove Illegal Structures

Ekiti State Commissioner for Physical,Urban and Regional Planning, Arch Ebunlomo Awoyemi, has appealed to owners and occupiers of  illegal structures already marked for demolition in the state  to vacate and remove their structures immediately.

The commissioner who gave this advice  during a chat with news men in Ado-Ekiti said the illegal structures would be removed by government agents at the expiration of the deadline already issued to them by his ministry.

While noting that the on-going Urban Renewal Programme of the Fayemi-Administration is aimed at building a better society with desirable infrastructure which every the future generation will be proud of , the commissioner explained that the exercise does not have any political undertone.

He stressed that every structure capable of hindering the achievement of government objectives and those that obstruct the rights of others will be removed by government.  Awoyemi noted that the successful achievement of the current efforts of the state government would culminate in sustainable development and benefits which include well planned towns and cities in the state, attractive , secure, well laid out  and tourist friendly towns and cities as well as putting in place a land use pattern that conforms with the best practices in modern town and cities all over the world.

He said that apart from reorganizing and restructuring  his ministry, the present administration has demonstrated her commitment to the Urban Renewal Programme by providing six Hilux vans to the ministry and the agencies under it while teams of experts have been commissioned by the state Government to  work on the preparation/production of master plan, base map, regional plan, model city and e-storage data bank among others.

He solicited the support of all stakeholders in state for the success of the programme.
