Ekiti Police Boss Assures On Reduction Of Crime Rate

July 5, 2012

Ekiti state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sotonye Wakama has declared the readiness  the State command to collaborate with the government to further  reduce the level of crime in the state.
Speaking while playing host to the Chairman of the State  Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Mr. Isola Akingbade in Ado-Ekiti  , the Police Commissioner said the command will not shirk  from its resposibility
of protecting  the lives and properties of people in the state.
Mr. Wakama assured the Chairman that his men will henceforth deal decisively  with vehicle owners who illegally attach Government Registration numbers on their personal vehicles as well as  drivers of  unregistered vehicles.
The Police Commissioner commended the  plan by the state government to decentralize registration of vehicles across the local government areas.
He however urged the state IRS to keep the police abreast of the new development when it finally takes off.
Wakama added that security agents including the Police will continue to be on their toes to ensure compliance with the law that guides registration of vehicles in the State in order to check the activities
of men of the underworld.
Earlier in his remarks,   the State IRS Chairman, Mr. Isola Akingbade  welcomed the Police Boss to the state and solicited the co-operation of the Police with the agency, asking for adequate security measures to be taken while issuing police reports to buyers of new vehicles in order to track-down  and identify stolen vehicles before they are registered.
He decried the continuous rise in the number of unregistered vehicles plying the roads  and the security challenges they pose to society now that  police check-points have been dismantled through out the country.
