Ekiti Petroleum Products Regulatory Agency Seals Off 3 Filling Stations

November 3, 2012

Ekiti State Petroleum Product Consumers’ Protection Agency (PPCPA) has sealed off 3 Petrol Filling Stations in Ado – Ekiti for
over-pricing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and under-dispensing their products to unsuspecting consumers.
The Chairman of the Agency, Mr. Akindele Ogungbuyi said the filling stations were sealed off during an unscheduled monitoring exercise of activities of filling stations in the state.

He explained that some filling stations were engaging in sharp practices which included under-dispensing apart from over-pricing the products. Ogungbuyi however said that the culprits would be allowed to re – open after paying stipulated fines into the coffers of the state and readjust their pumps.

The PPCPA Boss warns all dealers of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) in the state to desist from hiding under fuel scarcity to increase
the prices of their products arbitrarily and short change the people.
While stressing that customers must be allowed to have value for their money, he advised them to report any suspicion of sharp practices.
