Dame Jonathan, ACN Write Fayemi Over Deputy’s Death

First Lady, Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan has expressed her condolence to the Government and people of Ekiti State on the passing of the State Deputy Governor, Mrs Funmi Olayinka; describing that her exit was a monumental loss not only to Ekiti State but also to the whole nation.

Also, the national secretariat of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has sent the party’s condolence message to the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

The First Lady in her condolence letter dated 7th April, 2013, described the late Deputy Governor as a “compassionate and invaluable stateswoman” who was not only an experienced and result-oriented politician but also a woman of exemplary lifestyle whose marks are indelible.

“Her memory and legacy will forever be cherished and remain evergreen. I pray that God in His infinite mercy will grant you, her family and the State, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, while He comforts and assuages the pain of those she left behind”

, Mrs Jonathan said.

The ACN in its letter signed by the Party’s National Secretary, Senator Lawal Shuaibu said the party had lost a leader whose commitment to democracy and the party’s growth, even as she was one who was “championing the cause of women especially the unparalleled fight for the actualisation of the affirmative action in Nigeria”.

“We also remember her zeal to promote the Action Congress of Nigeria beyond the borders of Nigeria especially when she represented the National Headquarters at the ACN Conference in Ireland where she exhibited a high degree of responsibility in leadership”

, the Party wrote.

The Party however prayed God to grant her eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

 

Dignitaries who paid condolence visit to the State Government House included the first civilian Governor of the State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, legal icon, Chief Afe Babalola, Senator Ayo Fasanmi, and Forum of Spouses of Ekiti State Officials (FoSESO) among others.
