Adetiloye: A Dependable Leader – Jonathan, Fayemi

Abiodun Adetiloye, in Odo-Owa-Ekiti.

As the remains of former Primate of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, the late Most Revd Abiodun Adetiloye are laid to rest in his Odo Owa country home, President Goodluck Jonathan and Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi have described the late religious leader as a dependable leader worthy of emulation.

The President who was represented by the Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb. Olubolade (rtd) said Adetiloye was an epitome of service, humility and a reliable man; saying that a lot of lessons can be learnt from his life and times.

Jonathan added that the primate was a man of Peace whose life exemplified great accomplishments.

In his remarks, Governor Fayemi said Adetiloye’s life was one totally dedicated to the service of God and mankind and has left an example for others to emulate.

Dr. Fayemi stated that though Adetiloye was not partisan, he had successfully united Ekiti people regardless of party affiliation as seen in the calibre of politicians who trooped in to attend the Primate’s burial.

While noting that Adetiloye was a man of peace, the Governor said his roles in the Iddo declaration was a message that politicians should stop spilling blood for no just cause; stressing that all Ekiti politicians will abide by the Primate’s tenets and principles of peace.

Fayemi made a donation of Five Million Naira (N5Million) to the Primate’s church, St Paul’s Millennium Anglican Church, Odo Owa for the nurturing of the church and furtherance of evangelism for which the late Adetiloye was noted.

Earlier in his sermon, the Primate of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, Most Revd Dr. Nicholas Okoh said the deceased was selfless, truthful and was a great evangelist.

Okoh urged leaders to follow the steps of the late Primate and serve the people with sincerity. He also warned them against too much love of money and embrace values that will move the nation forward.

At the event were the Wife of the Governor,  Erelu Bisi Fayemi, former Governor of Western State, General Adeyinka Adebayo, his son and first civilian Governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, former Governors Ayo Fayose and Segun Oni, and the Director General of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mr Femi Ajayi among others.
